Maska Pony Update

As a company rain is good for business and an unusually wet summer has kept us very busy in what is traditionally our quite period! So although we are probably the only people not complaining at the British weather it hasn’t been a great success for our ‘sponsorship’ of a racehorse. Previously we reported the company have sponsored Maska Pony – aka Ryan and after his initial promise on his 4th at Haydock it has been very frustrating trying to find an opportunity to let him show his full potential. It is very rare for race meetings to be called off in the summer months but Ryan has been entered to race four times and never got to run due to the meeting being abandoned due to the track being waterlogged!

Finally after two inspections Redcar got the green light to go ahead. The rain started again at 10am and worried officials thought the track may become unraceable. We pondered long and hard as to whether we should let Ryan take his chance as he hates soft/heavy ground but after a discussion with his trainer George Moore & jockey Graham Lee it was decided to let him take part as the season was due to close and there was nothing else for him.

Maska Pony took up the challenge and finished 2nd to Categorical (a soft ground specialist). This was a great performance from him as he loves firm ground but he was very brave and battled through the mud. It is also a fine testament to George (trainer) and his groom Kay to keep him at peak form with so many abandonments. Graham Lee reported that the horse has a heart bigger than himself and had the ground been in his favour he would of reversed the placing’s with Categorical.

We have now brought him home until next season and although as a company we wouldn’t be too disappointed with another wet summer we will be hoping the rain stays in the South!!!

As we have already stated previously Paul & Kathy have a passion for re-homing ex-racehorses and are always looking for homes for these beautiful animals so if you feel you could offer one a loving home in retirement please do not hesitate to contact us.
