It’s never too early to spring clean your gutters

As we edge towards March there’s no better time to start thinking about giving your gutters a spring clean. Gutters keep water off our heads when we walk into our buildings but, more importantly, they prevent water dripping down near your foundations, damaging the structural integrity of the building.

Gutters ideally should be cleaned at least three times per year, and whilst most of us don’t need prompting to call out the maintenance team when the autumn leaves are falling, many of us forget that early spring is just as important.

Following heaving rain and snowfall in winter, combined with freezing conditions and a build up of general mud and debris between cleans, come spring time gutters are most likely not performing as they should be. And after such a battering over the colder months, It’s best to tackle any problems before the showery weather of March and April takes hold – it’s far easier to prevent any problems than rectify them.

Making gutter maintenance an integral part of annual upkeep ensures that you’re never caught out by sodden merchandise, destroyed equipment or an unsafe building. If you’re already thinking of giving the stock room, office or grounds a spring clean, why not do the same to your gutters. Not sure if they need it? Simply head out during a downpour and check how much water actually comes out the end of your downspout. If it’s only managing a trickle it’s time to give us a call!
